- Keyboard, mouse, PNY SATA SSD 120 GB, 2x8 GB DIMMs, TV
- loaded up windows 10 on a USB
- installed on the PNY
- networked
- updated software, video graphics, wireless, bios
- rebooted
- hooked up camera, click & share, audio
- worked fine rebooted
- windows 10 logged in with network username
- rebooted came to a black screen and screen was distorted could not see what was on the screen, so I took off of TV plugged in a regular monitor, and the error message said "could not find boot drive, insert boot drive or CD/DVD
- inserted USB asked to reinstall, clicked on repair and could not repair said to reinstall, so went to reinstall, and all drives have same errors cannot install on designated drive
- I go into cmos and selected the PNY drive as first boot nothing so been checking and repairing cannot get drive to work.
Hhmmm, normally, the boot order is the thing that causes issues, but this isn't the case here. As a general first step, I suggest that you re-seat the DIMMs and the drive (is this a M.2 SATA SSD or a 2.5" SATA drive?). Second, I would suggest that you clear CMOS and reinstall the latest BIOS (instructions can be found here: Clearing CMOS on Intel® NUC and here: BIOS Recovery Update Instructions for Intel® NUC). After doing so, use F2 key to enter BIOS Setup (Visual BIOS) and then use F9 to reset the BIOS configuration to defaults. Exit from Visual BIOS with a save of the configuration. During the subsequent reboot, use F10 to get to boot menu and then select entry for drive.
